There are lots of things to calculate on your goats.
Breed percentages. The buck is a 100% X breed The doe is a 100% Y breed The kids of this breeding are 50%X and 50% Y This buck breeds a 100% Z doe. These kids are 25% X, 25% Y and 50%Z. You simply reduce the parental percentages by one half to determine the offsprings percentage.
Weight Gains Average daily weight gains are important to know for performance. Take a 60 day old kid, weigh them, subtract the birth weight and divide the remaining number by 60. 60 Day Weight 25 pounds minus birth weight 7 pounds equals 18 pounds divided by 60 = .30 lbs per day.
Kidding percentages # does kidded / # of live kids born = kid crop born. Then, to find out how your kid crop really is at weaning # of does bred / # of kids at weaning = TRUE KID CROP
Enough Colostrum for a bottle kid 10% of the kids body weight is the minimum about of colostrum needed. Newborn weight = 6 lbs. 6 x 16 = 96oz 10% of 96oz is 9.6oz
